Smile. I demand it.

There used to be a time when you were served by a company representative, and they smiled.

Oh what a wonderful feeling.

You would walk out having bought the product or service feeling so good about the whole thing.

They were helpful and friendly.  They smiled.

What a wonderful world.

Oh I remember those days. What an experience.  I hoped that I would get it more often.  It was so nice to have.

Well, after all these years, it’s no longer a wonderful experience that’s nice to have.

I demand it.

Why? Because everyone else is doing it, and frankly, I’ve gotten used to it.

And please, spare me with the fake smile, because I can tell the difference if I’m being served by someone giving me a death wish smile

If you are serving customers today, it is your job to make them feel welcome, to make them feel special, to make them ok with the fact that they are parting away with their money.

If you, or anyone I come in contact with from your company can’t give me a smile (and all the goodness that comes with it), then I’m taking my business to your competition.

Take note. If you can’t bring yourself to smile at work, then find yourself a new job.

And if you are hiring, then hire for attitude.

Hire those who are beaming with positivity, the natural smilers.

Skill can be taught. Smiling, not so much.
